After months of heartbreak, Miles, a lost hound dog, is finally home. Miles went missing on October 10 when Hurricane Milton damaged owner Deborah Newell’s fence in Florida, allowing her four dogs to escape. While three returned, Miles remained missing.
Days turned into months, and hope dwindled—especially for Curtis, one of the returned dogs, who seemed heartbroken.
Enter Jinger Gordon and Kent Hickman of Beach Paw Rescue. They spotted a Facebook post about a malnourished red hound near Sarasota. Familiar with the area, they began their search and found Miles along the railroad tracks.
Using social media, they traced Miles’ owner. Newell rushed to the scene with Curtis’ blanket, which helped coax Miles into her arms for an emotional reunion.
Now recovering at home, Miles is slowly readjusting, bringing relief and joy to Newell and her canine family. Social media and compassion made all the difference.
