Miami Drivers Beware: Thieves Using Tablets to Steal Push-Start Cars

Miami Police are warning push-start vehicle owners about a growing trend: thieves using tablets to quickly steal cars. Surveillance footage recently captured three criminals stealing an Infiniti from an apartment building.

The victim, Adriana Cardenas, relied on her car for her delivery business and is now left without transportation or income. Police say this crime targets various car models, with Infinitis being especially popular due to their luxury appeal abroad.

“All the thieves need is an antenna and a tablet to connect to the key fob,” said Mike Vega of the Miami Police Department. Advanced vehicle technology has made it easier for criminals to strike, often taking several cars in minutes.

To protect your car, place your key fob in a frequency-blocking protector, which you can find online or make yourself with aluminum foil or a metal box. Stay vigilant and secure your keys.
