Who knew changing a lightbulb could be such a challenge? According to a new survey, nearly 25% of Gen Z admits they’re stumped by this basic task—and they’re not stopping there. From car cleaning to figuring out what a flathead screwdriver is, it seems this generation is waving the white flag on DIY.

Instead of rolling up their sleeves, they’re shelling out over $1,500 a year to let someone else handle it. Convenient? Sure. Expensive? Absolutely. Experts worry this reliance on hired help might dim their independence in the long run.

But hey, maybe Gen Z is onto something, redefining life skills for the swipe-of-a-card era. Whether it’s genius or just a lack of effort, one thing’s for sure: the debate about practical skills is heating up. What do you think—are they smarter than we give them credit for, or is it time for a DIY comeback?
